Funeral service for Apostle Sherenna Glenn will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Bright Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg.
Apostle Sherenna Marie Glenn, daughter of the late Tommie and Ruth Glenn was born in Scotland County on October 15, 1952. She departed this life on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
She received her education through the Scotland County School System and graduated from Scotland High School. She went on to further her education at Durham Business College and while there she served as Floor Counselor for her dormitory. She was employed by Abbott Laboratories for 27 years and officially retired when her plant closed in September 2002.
Apostle Glenn accepted Christ in her life in 1986 and was called out of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as Youth Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher to serve God in the deliverance ministry. She was the led to join Lighthouse Gospel Church and serve under Pastor Willie B. Joyner. On July 14, 1991, she delivered her Initial Sermon. In 1996, she received her calling in the office of Pastor and was later ordained by Reverend Willie Mozan Pastor of the Alpha and Omega Outreach Ministries in Fayetteville, N.C. She began her work for the ministry and later changed the name to The Greater Lighthouse Full Gospel Church where she became the Founder and Senior Pastor in 1998.
Continuing to be led by the Spirit of God, she accepted the call of a Prophetess in October 2001. Continuing to walk on with the Lord, she was ordained to the office of an Overseer by Apostle Ida McRae of Open Vision Interdenominational Ministries For All People on July 14, 2002. On August 23, 2005, she was ordained as an Apostle one sent by God by Bishop Arthur L. Benjamin. Under her tutelage, 12 ministers have been ordained to go out to carry this gospel. From that point until this her death, she has been standing steadfast, unmovable, waiting upon the Lord for further instructions.
She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Glenn. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her sister Loria Glenn; sister-in-law, Tisha Tate Glenn; nieces Shawanté Shaw, Kieyairra Glenn, Kennysha Tate, nephew Ky’Aundre Tate; great-niece Jenesis Shaw; spiritual son Elder Byron Johnson; goddaughters Natasha Simmons and Aliyah Simmons; godson Eli Gales; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, clergy, church members, and friends.
