Blonnie Mae (Prevatte) Miles

Funeral service for Blonnie Mae Mile, 77, of Hamlet, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Church of God of Prophecy Ghio 668 Springhill Church Rd. Hamlet, North Carolina. The Rev. Jamie English officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, at Church of God of Prophecy Ghio. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Ms. Blonnie Mae Miles, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Prevatte was born December 6, 1941, in Scotland County, North Carolina. She left to be with our Heavenly Father on the morning of February 12, 2019. 

Ms. Mae, as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in North Carolina. She attended school in Scotland County until she took off to care for her brothers and sister after the death of their mother. Mae ventured off to live in New York before returning home to North Carolina. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She faithfully attended church in McColl, SC.

After retiring from Perdue Farms in Rockingham, NC, she enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends and just enjoying life. Mae will be remembered for her home-cooked meals, desserts and making people laugh. She battled with Alzheimer’s disease, but never truly lost who she was and will be missed dearly.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her baby sister, Ruth Prevatte; brothers, Tommie Prevatte and Billy Wayne Prevatte; and a special family friend, Ms. “Mama Ruth” Knight Whitehead.  

Ms. Mae is survived by her daughter, Linda Strine of Hamlet; her sons, Robert Strine of Tennessee, and Johnny Lee Steen of Bennettsville; Sister, Wendy Prevatte of Rockingham; brothers Martin Prevatte of Hamlet, Franklin Prevatte of Rockingham, Samuel Prevatte of Hamlet, and Kent Prevatte of Bennettsville; Grandchildren, Adrian Strine of Hamlet, Leon Campbell (Jamie) of Angier, Frank Strine of Hamlet, and Robert “Bubba” Strine of Tennessee; Great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Janessa of Hamlet, and Mya of Angier; and a host of nieces, nephews and very special friends.
