I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Revelation 121:4

Mr. Lynwood Fields affectionally known as “Lyn” to all who knew and loved him, was born the second of five children on April 4, 1956, to the Late Mr. Lonnie and Josephine Chavis Fields in Scotland County, North Carolina. Lyn slipped quietly away from his earthly home into eternal rest Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

He was educated in the Scotland County Public School System, where he attended Scotland High School. Lyn was a lifelong member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully.

Lynwood met and married his high school sweetheart Mable Jean Harris Fields. To that union, they were blessed with one son Adrian Lyn Fields. He was employed at several factories including Gelco Inc. of Aberdeen, NC, and J.P. Stevens of Wagram, NC. Lyn found his niche after gaining employment with a construction company in Fort Bragg, NC, where he worked until his health declined.

Lyn had a passion for fishing and making people laugh. He enjoyed telling jokes to all who would listen. Lyn never met a stranger. He was the happiest when riding his “VIP Future Champion” black and grey moped.

Lynwood was proceeded in death by his parents, Mr. Lonnie and Josephine Chavis Fields, two brothers, Lonnie Jr., and James Lonnie Fields; three uncles, Ernest Lee, Albert Jr., and Charles Chavis; one aunt, Shirley Chavis Leggett.

His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved him dearly, his wife, Mable Jean Fields; two sons, Adrian Lyn Fields of Fayetteville, NC, and Eric Fields of Wagram, NC; one daughter, Neoshia Fields of Wagram, NC; two grandchildren, Braxton Burns of Nashville, TN, and Naomi Fields of Wagram, NC; brother, Ruedell Fields of Daytona Beach, FL; sisters, Julia Ann Fields of Fairmont, NC, Evonne (Ricky) Swindell of Laurinburg, NC, and Annie Wiggins of Rocky Mount, NC; aunts, Mary (Prentiss) Campbell, Willa Dean McNeill, Juanita Pemberton, and Marsha Fields all of Laurinburg, NC, and Vomina Chavis of Fairmont, NC; brothers-in-law, Sherman (Anita) Harris of Brooklyn, NY, and Edmond Harris of Laurinburg, NC; sisters-in-law, Faye Fields Simmons of Wagram, NC, and Cathy Fields of Laurinburg, NC, Delores McMillan of Newburg, NY, and Hattie Cousar of East Orange, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
