I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.       II Timothy 4:7-8

Minnie D. Barnes Leggett 100 years, six months and two days old, was the eldest child of the late Odelia Graham Barnes and Stepfather Jim Barnes, was born November 28, 1918, in Robeson County, North Carolina. As the eldest child of this union, Minnie would later welcome to the family four sister and six brothers. She departed this life on May 30, 2019, in the loving care of her children, at the family home constructed by the hands of the late Slathy Leggett, her husband, of 75 years.

Early in life, Minnie D. attended school in Robeson County. During childhood, she joined Zion Hill Methodist Church and remained a member for life. She served faithfully as her health permitted as a Deaconess, class leader, missionary worker, and member on the Steward Board.
