Willie C. Roberson, 92, was born July 25, 1925 to the late Julia and Henderson Roberson in Maxton, North Carolina.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Julie and Henderson; one sister, Shelia Elizabeth; three brothers, Danny, Ernest, and Henderson Roberson; and one son, Johnny McKoy.
Willie lived in Maxton, North Carolina all of his life. He received his education at Robeson Training School/R.B. Dean School in Maxton.
Willie was employed/retired from Hasty Plywood in Maxton for almost 50 plus years. He enjoyed playing checkers and pitching horseshoes. Willie loved farming/fishing and above all riding his bicycle. He was the inspiration behind the check tournament games held every year in Maxton.
Willie confessed Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church for 70 plus years where he served as a Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent for 60 years, also president of the Men’s Choir and a member of the Senior Choir.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called him home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. He leaves to cherish wonderful memories: his daughters, Linda (Wally) Evans of Baltimore MD and Sharon R. Edwards of Maxton NC; two sisters, Anna Franklin and Lillie M. Ellerbee; one brother, Walter Roberson of Maxton NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Frankie (Jeannie) Hall, along with his church family.
