Flora Mae (Leggett) Leach

Flora Mae Leggett-Leach, 68, of Laurinburg departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Laurinburg. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing and visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home & Cremation Services. 

Mrs. Flora Mae Leggette Leach was born January 31, 1954, to the late Thomas Legette and Odessa Williams in Laurinburg, NC. Flora Mae departed her earthly life on January 28, 2023. She graduated from Scotland High School in 1972. Flora Mae worked many years at Eaton until her retirement.

Flora Mae confessed to Christ as her personal savior at an early age joining Reedy Creek Baptist and later membership with Carolina First Baptist Church serving as the President of the Missionary Board. She enjoyed watching television and playing softball.  She was known to hit the ball out the park every time! 

Flora Mae was united in holy matrimony to the late James “Haywood" Leach and in their union two children were born.  

Flora Mae was preceded in death by her parents the late Thomas Leggette and Odessa Williams; her son, James Demond “JD'' Leggette; and stepson, James “Buff” Regan.

Flora Mae leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Melissa Leggette and Nichosha  McInnis both of Laurinburg,NC; stepdaughters, Kashonia Regan and Dorothy Washington; one goddaughter, Sumyah “Yah- Yah” Cooper; five grandsons, Da’Mari Leggette and Donerio Graham of Laurinburg, NC , Travion Elliott,  Brandon Morrison and Anthony Lowery; three granddaughters, Loyalty McInnis,Jay’lee and Delaney Lowery; one brother-in- law, Bobby Leach; two sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth and Dorothy Leach all of Maxton, NC; Flora Mae had a special friendship with Angela Douglas and Rosalyn Moore.

Flora Mae loved all of her family and friends. She was a strong woman to the end. Flora Mae will be dearly missed by her entire family, friends, and church community.
